Hi, my name is Shawn and my wife's name is Sidonie; we moved to Vancouver, Canada in January, 2011. I myself grew up in Toronto, Canada, and Sidonie grew up in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Our cat and our children (when we have some) will grow up in Vancouver and spend summers in Kaohsiung.
I made this website because I want to share the things that I know, or have spent time finding out, with everyone. I sincerely appreciate all the people in the world that share their knowledge and experience with others; be it in person, via correspondence, or online.
Like anyone else, I do a lot of my research online and am really grateful to those that spend their time sharing with total strangers. It has encouraged me to also share what I know, and the experiences I've had. I am going to be as detailed as possible, because I sometimes find good information out there, but it's not quite as detailed as I'd like it to be.
I named this website 'Like a Robot' because we sometimes go through our daily lives like robots. We don't stop to think about our action or our inaction. We don't stop to think whether there may be a more efficient or effective way of doing what we've always done. It's human nature, sure, but you sometimes find out things you never knew you never knew, and your biggest regret is not having found out earlier!
